  18. i LOVE both! “touch my hands” is my fave!! :D I am so excited for the album now!!!!!

    Comment by KimberlyS. | October 14, 2008

  19. I love them both, but I do have a slight preference for “My Hands” because I like him singing in a higher key…his tenor soars.
I’m so excited…I’m confident they will choose the best songs for that album.

    Comment by nancyg | October 14, 2008

  20. “Touch My Hands” has a really cool concept, but the lyrics and melody were…..mediocre =/

I really like “My Hands.” Not 100% sure what it’s about, but the lyrics are very creative…I like all the references to time and not wanting to keep track of it.

I’m still waitin for some crazy ballad with those signature runs, oozing soul. Less than a month! I’m so excited!

    Comment by ThatSkinDangIt | October 14, 2008

  25. Love the songs, just hearing those snippets and they sound great! They both have unique sounds, great words — either or both would be great on his album! Can’t wait to get his CD in MY HANDS!!!

    Comment by jemm | October 14, 2008

  26. i cant understand the lyrics of “my hands” from 0:34 to 0:37 and from 0:57 to 1:01. can someone please tell me?

    Comment by KimberlyS. | October 14, 2008

  27. Wow! Love them both!

Comment by Mom Fan | October 14, 2008

  28. Another (3) thing…

    1) I have a feeling David had a hand in writing “Touch My Hands.” So…good job David…I think it deserves a better melody though =/

    2) When “My Hands” started playing, I automatically thought, “I need you boo, I gotta you boo…”

    3) I love the “channel-uh” in “My Hands” =]

    Comment by ThatSkinDangIt | October 14, 2008

  29. Man, David! I have to do homework!

    Gosh.

    Comment by ThatSkinDangIt | October 14, 2008

  30. Did not like touch my hands, sounds just not quite right!! My hands does sound good, but where is the ballads that he needs to sing. Where is that Josh Groban voice that we all loved??? too much Disney to me… I think I know why 19 mgmnt went with Cook. This is coming from a huge Archuleta fan, sorry, his talents are not being used the right way. Where is that voice that sang Joyful, Joyful.. or the voice that sang God Bless America the other night?? WORRIED about the decisions that are being made for him!!

    Comment by tom | October 14, 2008

  31. Touch my hands is incredible. LOVE IT.

    Comment by mike | October 14, 2008

  32. Amazing. Thats all there really is to say.

    Comment by Casey | October 14, 2008

  33. I love them both but I really like my hands a lot more than touch my hands. I really liked the slow songs he sang on idol 2. I hope he does some like that 2, not just all these really poppy ones. The slow, meaningful songs were the ones that made me cry. I’m not sure I like these 2 better than CRUSH though. But great job David! Thanks Fanblast! By the way, what is up with the “hands” concept? Haha. Lol! :)

    Comment by Becca | October 14, 2008

  34. VERY POP. LOL. UGH.

I MEAN, seriously, it’s hard to turn a teen into a star with these type of songs, but that’s the best for now, since he’s still so young.

don’t like the first song, it’s corny.
2nd song, sounds very poppy, jonas bros meets chris brown.

doesn’t sound like him in neither songs.

I smeell Jordin Sparks type of success.

    Comment by Kathy | October 14, 2008

  35. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH U #30! Huge David Archuleta fan here 2, but not a huge fan of all these songs!

    Comment by Becca | October 14, 2008

  36. Wow, some real music critics here. LOL. Guarantee for you today: David’s first album will not be songs like Imagine or Smokey Mountain Memories….we may get 1 or possibily two like that on his CD but not much more. Archie may act like he’s 30 but he really is 17. Let’s not “clay aikenize” him so that only people over 40 like his music.

    Comment by mike | October 14, 2008

  37. So I know Archie has a lot of older fans, and it kind of scares me to think thye like this kind of music, hahahah. I mean yeah, they can listen to whatever, but I SEE A LOT OG GROWN OLD FOLKS defending him on Youtube, and comparing him to the likes of people and legends back then!!

They all kinda sound “Crushy” too me, lol.

    Comment by Kathy | October 14, 2008

  38. awe. i love david. but these songs are not doin it for me. i love HIS voice. not all those musicy stuff in the back. nevertheless, im a die hard david fan and will be in line on november 11 to buy his cd.

  39. OMG GREAT SONGS!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH OMGGGG!!!!!!!! THESE ARE SOOO AMAZING!!!!!!!!WOAHHHH ODD IS CONTROLLING ME!!!!!! I LOVE DAVID ARCHULETA

Comment by archie lover from CT | October 14, 2008

  40. what is wrong with some people here??? those songs were awesome! I am sure he has some ballads in his cd but come on…. he does great with these pop songs! GOod job david ! i cant wait for the cd!!!!!

    Comment by rena | October 14, 2008

  41. Okay, I’ve listened to them both again, and I have to say that I don’t like the way David says “You” (like “yeeeww”) in “Touch My Hands.” It sounds too much like the Jonas Brothers, and David is way too good to stoop like that.

On a second note, “Touch My Hands” is the song I like better.

    Comment by sleeplessinseattle96 | October 14, 2008

  42. My Hands will be a hit! This clip of Touch My Hands sounds a little too loose in the beginning to meet the high expectations of ‘David’ vocals we’ve come to expect (sounds like influence of other artists or fatigue might have had an effect?), but looking forward to hearing final and whether he had a part in writing it on tour.

    Comment by michmom | October 14, 2008

  43. What bothers me is when people constantly say stuff like David is too good to stoop to some level, and compare them to different artist, like he’s a God. But I guess being on an Archie fansite, I’ll have to deal.

    Comment by Kathy | October 14, 2008

  44. OMG!!!! I love them both. he sounds a lot different here than in crush!!!

    Comment by Roza | October 14, 2008

  45. Yea, I agree. I think we’ve seen him be phenomenal, and we’re waiting for a song that will complement that.

“Touch My Hands” has a cool concept but I agree with #34 Kathy that’s it’s pretty corny.

“My Hands” is actually good. Pair that wish “Crush,” throw in some crazy ballads, and we’re good =]

    Comment by ThatSkinDangIt | October 14, 2008

  46. Hands should have been the first single.

    Comment by Kathy | October 14, 2008

  49. LOVEE My Hands!!!
The first one doesn’t even sound like him..
they better not edit it too much
also, I want him to sing songs that show his amazingness a little better

    Comment by Stephanie | October 14, 2008

  50. i think both are musically missing something… they are just kind of.. bland? the lyrics are interesting and the concepts are cool, and i think David is amazing. But i think these are like before the final edit, because neither sounds mixed.

    Comment by halli | October 14, 2008

  51. I don’t really like either. Maybe I gotta hear the entire song? Whatever, still gonna buy his album =)

Hopefully “Ruin Me” will be on the album. It’s a heart wretching love ballad that will balance this pop album out.

    Comment by Mariam | October 14, 2008

  52. i like the tune of “my hands” more… but can’t quite understand the lyrics…and he kinda struggle in breathing?..but idunno..so far i kinda like it…but hopefully he will have atleast one or more “ballads” song in his album,,, coz it really shows his true voice like hitting the high notes with very relaxing melody…i like him singing ballads and that’s coming from a 16 years old…haha..coz i can really feel his emotions through ballads,,and i think it suits his voice more…

    Comment by rheii | October 14, 2008

  53. and agree that touch my hands is cheesyy:S

    Comment by Stephanie | October 14, 2008

  54. I agree Halli, but these sounds like the finished things.

His label is definately looking at that commericial music, but it’s only his first album, so no fret.

    Comment by Kathy | October 14, 2008

  55. To Kathy:

“What bothers me is when people constantly say stuff like David is too good to stoop to some level, and compare them to different artist, like he’s a God. But I guess being on an Archie fansite, I’ll have to deal.”

    ^^^^^
Well the truth is that David is “too good”. And yes you are on an Archie fansite, so you SHOULD expect all of us to be supportive of him. If you are not a fan, then why on earth are you on this site dissing David?

    Comment by carlie | October 14, 2008

  56. Everyday but Fanblast. I can’t believe i almost cried. This is ridiculous. There is a hint of a rocker sound of his voice in Touch My Hands and I am totally loving it. Be it rock, ballad, pop, or just talking, walking or shaking, David you are amazing!!!LOL

    Comment by acute | October 14, 2008

  57. Touch my hands has like a “Cold Play” feel to it. Great job David!

Comment by Mom Fan | October 14, 2008

  58. This is Becca from savramento
I actually love these songs. I love my hands the best. It has a great message to it too. I wonder if david wrote this? Cause the words are beautiful.

    Comment by Becca | October 14, 2008

  59. Does anyone understand all the lyrics of “my hands”?

    Comment by carlie | October 14, 2008

  60. sacramento I mean haha

I just have hunch David had something to do with the lyrics of “My Hands”. It’s him written all over it.

  62. Oh my gosh!!! I love them both sooo much! They are amazing.. This is how I expected everything on his album to be. I like “My Hands” just a little better though. He’s just too amazing.. Lol

    Comment by Carla | October 14, 2008

  63. NOT “CHEEZY” at all…..Touch My Hands is very hip!

Comment by Mom Fan | October 14, 2008

  64. i totally agree with u acute!!! he can sing anything and i love it… i don;t understand what other people are listening too… i’m sorry but when david sings i do not hear disney so i think people need to stop worrying about that… he’s unique and he makes anything he sings sound BEAUTIFULL!!!!

    Comment by rena | October 14, 2008

  65. Curlie; where was I dissing David?

And it might be the truth for you, that’s fine. But it’s not for me, but when people began to put other artist down because they don’t think their talent is any good, I think that’s wrong.

I didn’t know I had to approve of all things Archie to be on his fansite. I’m a fan of his music, I think that’s good enough.

    Comment by Kathy | October 14, 2008

  66. i love the lyrics and his voice and the beat and EVERYTHING.

  70. I think both songs are great. I listened to both several times. My Hands is my favorite, but I like Touch My Hands too. I can’t wait for his album to come out.

    Comment by Lisa S | October 14, 2008

  71. Both songs sound pretty awesome.

But they may need to change one of the titles (too similar) if both songs make it on the album. It would be much too confusing, (IMO). Maybe change the title of “My Hands” to “Hold On”, he sings a lot in that song.

    Comment by "AKA" (My~Singing~Angel) | October 14, 2008

  72. OMG!!!
Do I relly have to chose????

Comment by Belle Flanders | October 14, 2008

  73. I love touch my hands. It sounds so different for him and definately is a winner. love the beat!
My Hands is good too; the words are a little odd. His voice sounds so smooth, but I think Touch My Hands would appeal to more people. Both are winners! I’m getting so excited!!

    Comment by Tara | October 14, 2008

  74. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

and ya, david, are you purposely trying to make me fail histroy and english?

    and cant concentrate!

    lol.
    SIMPLY AMAZING, BOTH.

    XDDDDDD

  75. Kathy:

I don’t think that Archie fans put other artists down. His fans always try to be respectful of other artists too. And this fan site is for David Archuleta, the person, not only his music. The site IS called “Fanblast 4 David Archuleta” not “Fanblast 4 David Archuleta’s Music”.

    Comment by carlie | October 14, 2008

  76. Whoa this is so cool!!!!! Where did it come from though?? I’m so confused!!!!

    Comment by Becca | October 14, 2008

  77. David- Great Job! Can’t wait for the CD!!!

    Comment by Terry | October 14, 2008

  78. This coming from someone who is such a David fan that my mom and I spent over $3,000 on plane tickets to see him at 5 AI concerts:

I REALLY want to like these songs, the problem is, I don’t. I will buy his first album just to support him, but I definitely will be awaiting his second album ( although, unfortunately, if all the songs are like these, the chances of that happening are lessening :-( ) Hopefully, it will be more David.

I understand that he is only seventeen, however, he has older fans and younger fans (me) that fell in love with David for his slow, ballady songs that made us cry.

Neither of these songs sound like David at all. In fact, when I started listening to “Touch My Hands” (which the title alone is too similar to Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body”; a disgusting, horny, innapropriate song {is that really what David wants to be thought of as?}), I thought that it was someone else singing it so that we can understand the words and I actually took me quite a while to figure out that it probably wouldn’t have been worded by Fanblast the way it was if it wasn’t David singing it (otherwise, I honestly wouldn’t have known it was him).

When I first heard “My Hands”, (as #33 said, what’s up with the “hands” concept?”, I immediately thought that it was Chris Brown’s “With You”, especially during seconds 0:03 to 0:06. I believe it is the same note and key, even with the “ooooohs” (also stated by #28), and just like #26 said, I cannot understand half the words of this song.

I am not satisfied and I am sure most others will not be either. I really hope these songs will not be on the album.

I am sad to say that I am not happy with the album so far. I think “Crush” is a great song, but those are my only positives. I don’t use this word a lot, but I HATE the album cover and now a possible 1/3 of the album so far have songs I probably would not listen to more than 3 times.

I also sadly agree with #34 on the Jordin Sparks type of success; she hasn’t gone very far and David won’t either with these songs. :-(

Just my opinion, but it seems others have the same ideas I have.

    Comment by archies_angel | October 14, 2008

  79. I love both songs, but I love Touch My Hands. Apparently David wrote that one. Great job David. I know when the album finally comes out we will all be blown away.

    Comment by hazeleyd71 | October 14, 2008

  80. Like “My Hands” a lot. The lyrics have meaning to me. STILL WAITING FOR MY POWER BALLAD.

Touch My Hands…dont like so much. It’s too focused on David and his particular situation. I don’t think enough people in the general public will relate to it. I don’t think it will have broad appeal.

    Comment by moltenhot | October 14, 2008

  81. Tara, you said it perfectly! That’s exactly what I was thinking!

    Comment by KimberlyS. | October 14, 2008

  82. AHHHHH IM LIKE CRYING THAT WAS AMAZING!!!! it really just hit me that we are gonna have like 10 new songs to become obsessed with!!!! hehe im supposed to be working on my AP history stuff…… i couldn’t resist coming on here tho!! =]

    Comment by Megan | October 14, 2008

  83. I’m not sure what to say!!! I like them both, not the best songs outhere (I dont recognize Archie’s voice, in Crush I do despite all the modifications), but since I die for archie, I dont care!!! haha

If we fans have doubts about the songs, the critics are going to bury him 10 feet below the ground…I’m scared now!!!! I think Crush is way better than these two songs, I only hope that there are better songs out there!! Still ordering multiple copies of his album!!!!

    Comment by pm | October 14, 2008

  84. Carlie;

Have a nice day, but I don’t have type of your immaturness. Back to my homework.

#78 ; We think a like, but I can only wish him the best.

The Music Industry is VERY competitive right now.

Did everyone forget The Queen Bee (Beyonce) is back on the scene, and you how that goes. You wont’ go months on out without hearing her!

    Comment by Kathy | October 14, 2008

  85. I thought the MY Hands did sound like the chris brown song, this is why I prefer Touch My Hands. But it’s good for him to go outside the box a little to appeal to more people which I think Touch my hands will do. It’s a different sound for him. And keep in mind these are NOT the final cuts.

    Comment by Tara | October 14, 2008

  86. I agree with you #78 and 82, I really do not like these songs, they don’t sound like David, it does not even sound like him singing.

What a let down. I hope the rest of the album is better. I will definitaely support the CD, hope he is listening to our comments.

    Comment by Fan4ever | October 14, 2008

  87. OMGosh!!! Im debating wether or not to listen to the spoilers!!!! I can’t decide, im freaking out!!!! HELP!!! LOL!!

    Comment by Nicole! | October 14, 2008

  88. i love both songs! as for certain remarks, we have to remember david is 17 and does like to sing certain types of songs. and i do not think he will forget that he is well known for ballads. i am sure there will be at least one of those on there. but he does need radio friendly music to reach a bigger audience. and either way in his future i am certain we will hear some super ballads. :)

    Comment by diana | October 14, 2008

  89. “My Hands”

    Ohh, etc.

    Accidentally on purpose
I dropped my watch behind the tire(?)
Threw my alarm clock inside the fireplace
    yea
And I put the parental control on
On the news and the weather channel-uh
I’m wound tight in my robe
    I’m lookin for you ohh

    If everything is stopped(?)
    I listen for your heart
to lead me right to you yea
I tried every way I can

But it’s harder to hold on
to your hands in the hands of time
I need a hand, girl I’m tryin’ to hold on
Loosin’ strength in these hands of mine
…(something something)….I’m tryin to hold on
Standin’ here open hands and I
know I can’t do this alone
    Hold on Hold on
Baby hold on to my hands
Can you hold on to my hands
    Don’t let go….

    Comment by ThatSkinDangIt | October 14, 2008

  90. We knew this album was going to be POP. I think David wrote Touch My Hands. It is what he has been living and relating to all summer on the Idol tour….I want to see more power ballads though….. Miss Vicki

    Comment by VICKI | October 14, 2008

  91. I don’t understand why some of you don’t like these. I think it sounds like david. It’s his voice, he’s just trying new things and experimenting with his voice. That is what keeps people out there staying on top by trying new things with their music. Remember he is just starting out and he is learning what groove he wants to get into. He’s young and is going to experiment with his music. And I’m glad he is. Touch my hands is very catchy and new sounding. It doesn’t sound like everything else out there. However, I don’t think they should put both of these on the album b/c of the similarity of the songs (both about hands). That would be cheesy and disappointing.

    Comment by Tara | October 14, 2008

  92. I like the lyrics to “My Hands.” Very poetic and One Republic-esque. And the beat is reminescent of Chris Brown’s “With You,” but once the lyrics start, it’s pretty clear that the melody is completely different. I like it.

Still don’t like “Touch My Hands” though =/

    Comment by ThatSkinDangIt | October 14, 2008

  93. This is shaping up to be a great album. Just the right mix I want, something simple with guitar and something hip with beats and rhythm. And please do not compare David with anyone else, he is unique, if there is any resemblance, it’s influence. Comparison makes it seem like he’s copying and that’s not true.

I’m glad that these previews are not immediately outstanding because if they are, it will only mean disappointment when the full length is released. I heard a lot of previews before, and the better they are, the faster they flop when they’re released.

And with beats like that, it’s certainly not Pop, at least it’s not the pure pop we know during Backstreet Boys period.

  94. I love Rank ‘Em Again David Archuleta Crush!

Vote! Vote! @ VH1 Top Music Video Countdown. Keep David #1!!!

    Comment by rxa | October 14, 2008

  95. Yea, #89 Vicki. That’s why I mentioned I think David had a hand in writing “Touch My Hands” because it’s what he’s been experiencing and it’s so like him to make a song for the fans. That’s why I’m trying not to dislike it because I want to support everything he does and encourage him to write…but it falls short. I knew it was David right away though. I could recognize that voice if it was whistling.

We may not understand the lyrics to “My Hands,” but I still think it’s good. Maybe we have to hear the whole song. The 2nd verse and bridge probably reveal what the song is about.

Once again, yay “My Hands.” Nay “Touch My Hands.”

Back to Classical Tragedy and Medieval Lit. Boo, college, boo.

  99. He has such a pure voice that I don’t understand why they have to mix it with five other voices and make his voice not even sound like him. the songs we downloaded from american idol show his range and were simply his voice, completely not messed with. He is always on pitch and perfect- sounding anyway, so why do they have to change anything? Just let him sing.

    Comment by Marissa | October 14, 2008

  103. I like both! I think I might like Touch My Hands more though. But it’s hard to say! :)

    Comment by Courtney | October 14, 2008

  104. I love both songs! I’ve listened many times now to each.

My vote goes to Touch My Hands.

I think that My Hand is a little be like Crush, so I’d rather have a different type of song for a possible next single.

I do love them both, though.

  105. Well you know, i promised my self that i would wait but i wasn’t expecting more releasing so FORGET THAT!!!!!!

I LOVE THE SONGS!!!!!!! and to all those people who thinks it’s over produced: this is just a clip and may not be the final edit but i think its awesome cuz i can still here his voice through it. i love both of them. and i hope he sings these at Jingle Ball i will be there. and if he sings touch my hands i will be front row with my hand out hahaha

    Comment by Heather | October 14, 2008

  106. I like how David is proving his harshest critics wrong, he can be marketable and current. These pop songs are just what he needs to jumpstart his career. Bravo David.

    Comment by Carl C | October 14, 2008

  107. First: an album has, at least, 12 songs. Jive let us hear just samples of 2 songs - and one can become a new single. I don’t understand people criticizing an album that they don’t know just because of 2 simple and not complete samples. It’s too much negativism.
Second: too much expectations about David is wrong. He is a 17 years old boy with a wonderful voice and amazing musical sensibility, but he doesn’t have to sing only ballads. American Idol is over, thanks God, and now he must connect with more young people, sing contemporary and commercial songs to turn out the image of “boring” and became a known artist. I know that he has a good musical taste and with time he will record other albums, let’s say, more sophisticated to pleased his oldest fans too.
Who really like him must wait to hear all the new album and just support him in his way to become the musician that he has the potential to be.

    Comment by luana | October 14, 2008

  108. Like “My Hands” slightly more than “Touch My Hands”. MH is more mature with clever phrasing and lyrics. TMH is simpler and less polished, and a little “flat” in the beginning. I think it is worth continuing to work on-great potential. Thanks for the preview!

    Comment by janet | October 14, 2008

  109. #51
Where did you hear “ruin me”?

And I too fell in love with his power ballads–hoping the record company realizes that his ballads were what catapulted him to the top. Most of the other songs (With You, You’re the Voice, etc.) were deeply criticized by the judges.

Maybe he’ll do a Christmas album.

  110. David, love these songs and can’t wait to buy your CD!!

Fanblast, I hope we can just be surprised and hear the rest of the songs on 11/11. Things tend to get a little over analyzed by some and you have to wonder if some of these postings are from true David Archuleta fans!

    Comment by Becca | October 14, 2008

  117. Completely agree with luana!

I think Jive did this because they want to prove that David can be young and current. That’s why they release these samples with up tempo, pop-ish sound.

The rest of the album may be all ballads, we still have at least 10 more songs unheard on the album, that is if both of these songs make it to the album which I doubt even though I love both of them.

For older fans who want David’s ballads, there will be some of that in the album for sure. I am sure the album will have something for everyone. I hope you older fans will not withdraw your support of David just because he sings more pop songs than ballads. I hope we will support him for his first album whether you are young or old. Also, if you feel that you have to play critic to these songs, I hope you do it in an objective, professional manner. I love these songs. Peace.

    Comment by Merlin | October 14, 2008

  126. Guys, there probably will be a couple besutiful ballads on the CD.
These are good radio songs especially ‘My Hands.’ I like the lyrics, they are funky and not too innocent.

‘Touch My Hand’ is cool too and with the rumor David wrote the song makes it even more special.

David needs radio friendly songs to establish himself in the industry. He could sing ballads and it doesn’t matter how beautiful it sounds, if the radio stations don’t play it, he has no future in the music business.

  132. OMG, how amazing our David is! I’m reading comments I just can’t understand here. Not every song he sings is going to come across like an Imagine or Heaven. This is what makes him so different from the rest of the singing world! Let’s embrace him with every part of our being and let the critics not his fans analyze him. Just hearing snips of his very own songs is what makes me so excited! We are all here for the incredible ride! Let’s enjoy it! We are so proud of you David!

  133. Touch My Hands is absolutely brilliant. It is HIS life. It is something he experiences. Can you imagine the uncontrollable concert attenders for that one.

My hands is well done, but it sounds lyrically older. Can’t wait to see who wrote what!

  135. Well I listen to both songs 3 times before I could make a comment, I like Touch My Hands better than My Hands, it was kind of hard trying to understand the lyrics on My Hands. I’m like some other fans that I hope the album has some ballads that is why a lot of us felt in love with him. I will buy his album because I want to support him, but I hope he doesn’t go in the direction of to much Disney. Don’t get me wrong I love Disney movies but not Disney singers.

    Comment by Silvia | October 14, 2008

  136. I liked both song, but I love “MY HAND” ( I love his voice on this, more mature) better than “TOUCH MY HAND” (his voice on this like Disneys on the beginning like Zack Efron voice which is I don’t like his voice). Sorry just my opinion. But I love what ever David chose. I love any song that David sings :)

  140. My Hands is more radio friendly than TMH.
Touch my hands sounds like what David fans are use to hearing from him . I guess it doesn’t seem that crazy to me he wrote that song (TMH) cause it has a very laid back type of feel that David likes to listen to when it comes to music .

My favorite is Touch My Hands from the two songs because it sounds more what I am use to hearing from him but both songs are great .

    Comment by archie4life | October 14, 2008

  141. Shucks, voted on rate the music for “Touch my Hands” I like the upbeat feel of it. Now I come over here read everyone’s comments and relisten to the songs and though I feel its too jumbled at the beginning, now I prefer “My Hands” can I re-vote? lol. I agree with #80 moltenhot- Touch my hands is a song that the average listener won’t relate to. #91 Tara - I too believe David is experimenting and I feel both songs are the type of music David is hoping to perform.

  147. No surprise, David’s vocals are stellar in both songs. Though I prefer the tune, beat, and overall feel of Touch My Hands, I just don’t like the lyrics. They don’t go with the tune and they just don’t seem like David to me. It almost sounds stuck up when he’s talking about being on stage. I don’t know how to explain it. It sounds more mainstream love than the heartfelt David we know and love. But My Hands… absolutely beautiful. Lyrics, beat, tune, vocals (DUH!). Everything is covered in that song. Of course I love both songs, but one much more than the other.

    Comment by Amy | October 15, 2008

  148. What makes David so unique is that he appeals equally to young and “old “alike, and for the same reasons. Usually, the older folks are late in coming on board (they hated Elvis and were lukewarm to the Beatles). David already has all age groups loving him. I cannot remember an artist with such broadbased appeal at the beginning of a career. As a result, there will be people who think his songs are too much of one thing or not enough of another. Just keep buying his CDs and everyone will get what they want eventually.

As for these songs, I love “Touch My Hands’ and am warming up to “My Hands”. I do find the similarity in titles a little offputting. Who knows if they’ll both be on the CD? Anyway, love ya David. You are THE best artist out there.

Comment by Mike (aka) Blisskasden on Youtube | October 15, 2008

  149. “Radio friendly?” Some of Billboard’s and radio’s biggest hits are ballads. Ask yourself this…which of David’s Idol performances got the most downloads? You think a meaningful ballad could not bring the boy a hit? I think it could be bigger than ever.

And…boyagam, you should allow folks to express that they may not like/love something David does if that’s what they feel. Criticizing/shunning those who share honest opinions will put this site in the same league as the Soul Patrol. I don’t think we wanna go there? There’s room for every opinion and a LOT of love for David in the room…if not for every song.

    Comment by Becca | October 15, 2008

  152. Okay,
I love both songs because its David. I like everything he does! But if I had to choose between the two, I would choose My Hands. I think this song, is more David. His voice is strong and it showcases his voice more. Its got a good message as the other song but the first sound doesn’t sound like David as much. Its kinda sluggish I think. Perhaps its because I’m not used to hearing him sing that type of song. I like the lyrics of the first song a whole lot. That does sound like David. Its so hard to choose because they both offer so much!

    Comment by cindy | October 15, 2008

  153. This is my first time post here. After hearing these two clips, I really feel like to say something. The vibe of “My hands” sounds too much like “Crush” to me. If one of these songs will be future single, I actually prefer “Touch my hands.” Just think there should be some variation for the single. Besides, I would look forward to hearing David sing this song live on stage! It should be awesome! As for “My hand”, it might be more radio-friendly like many people said, but the tempo is just too similar to “Crush” to me. So I vote for “Touch my hands.” One more thing, I couldn’t stop thinking after seeing the title of these two song’s…could they think of a better one instead of such similar titles? don’t know if it’s a good idea to have two songs with similar title in an album, even though it’s completely two different songs…two many hands…(but I definiely like David’s hands!!)

    Comment by archiehappyforever | October 15, 2008

  154. Of the two songs, I definitely like “My Hands” better because you can hear David’s voice better. I don’t like too many filters drowining out his voice; his voice is so pure, it doesn’t need anything extra added.

While I adore “Crush” I can’t say I’m in love with either of these two songs so I’m a little disappointed. While I love his power ballads I don’t necessarily need them. I’d be happy hearing anything he had to sing; I just need his voice in it’s purest form and neither of these songs showcase his voice enough, IMO.

    Comment by Bebe | October 15, 2008

  155. Crush is pop. My Hands is R&B/Hip-hop. Touch my Hands has a lite/soft Rock feel to it. Will there be a sappy ballad in the CD, you betcha. This CD is going to be eclectic because his musical influences are. And as he has said so many times, he’s still “finding himself” as a person and as an artist. Just check out his Amazon song list.

    Comment by RJ | October 15, 2008

  156. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but why are there TWO songs about his hands? how bout a more intersting body part like his GORGEOUS EYES! or LUSCIOUS HAIR!

    Comment by madison | October 15, 2008

  157. Geez guys - you call yourselves fans? I hope David IS NOT reading these comments. I would be crushed if I was him, no pun intended. Did you not even read the VOTE question “which song will go to #1 faster?” I listened to both songs about 4 times each and TOUCH MY HANDS grew on me everytime I listened to it. I thought MY HANDS was too similar to CRUSH. Play the songs and then stand up and dance to them - TOUCH MY HANDS, the beat, is very dance-able. David, if you are reading these comments, YOU DID GOOD and regardless of who wrote them, they are catchy tunes, they both have good beats - I’d give TMH a 99 and MH a 92…shades of American Bandstand because I am a platinum fan and I have no idea where you guys get the idea that it’s the old fans that don’t like the songs. I’m 67 and I LOVE THEM - and they sound like David Archuleta in top pop form. YOU GO DAVID!

    Comment by Linda | October 15, 2008

  158. Gosh, I feel so weird commenting again, but I feel I must:
I listened to Touch My Hands again. But I did something different than the first couple of times. I didn’t mean to do it, but, I just started tapping my foot. Then I just broke out into my “sweet dance moves.” And I found out: Touch My Hands is DANCEABLE. Every artist needs AT LEAST one upbeat song that you can dance to. SO now I have a new respect for Touch My Hands: my new spaz out song, haha :P

    Comment by Amy | October 15, 2008

  159. Amy #158 - I did exactly the same thing you did with exactly the same result. Will be a good “club” song, as well as radio. Go David!!!!!

    Comment by Linda | October 15, 2008

  160. This is just my opinion, but I’m getting really tired of the negativity, which I guess will never stop. All we heard during this season was that David Archuleta would be a commercial failure and David Cook would sell millions of records. Maybe he will, but so far he hasn’t.

If you don’t like David Archuleta’s music, then don’t listen to it. Don’t buy his album. It’s totally okay, and it’s as simple as that.

“Crush” is #16 on iTunes after nine weeks. “Light On” is #63 after two weeks. Let’s discuss “marketability” again when Cook actually has a hit single.

Sorry for the rant. I understand that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion.

    Comment by Sh | October 15, 2008

  161. I love both songs. I cannot decide yet. I need more time. Both songs are already grown on me too much. haha..For the live concert, I’ll pick “Touch my hands”, For the radio, I’ll pick “My hands”. Both are great!! David..you gave us too much great songs…just too much…just too much…

    Comment by cindy | October 15, 2008

  162. I am not a “young” fan, but I know how much he connects to each song, and he does that very well with these two songs. I am pretty sure he wrote Touch My hands and I am very proud of him.. This is just a little preview of what is to come and it’s going to be wonderful journey..

    Comment by Michelle | October 15, 2008

  163. I just have to say this, I dont know who are the worst critics - the Cook fans, the haters or ARchies own fans? You people who are disappointed already for 2 surveyed songs that we didnt even hear half of it and its only 2 out of the 12 songs plus bonus track in his album. Didnt ARchie say his album will be a mix, theres something for everyone. Looks to me that fans here are so overanalyzing and easy to criticize are putting so much expectation on a young talent like DAvid. Chill out and wait for the album and as the others said if you dont like it, dont buy it. The songs are good, not great but its twice better than what is out there.

  167. OMGosh, I just listened again to TOUCH MY HANDS and I would stake my life on David’s having written it. It says basically, not verbatim, “I saw you from a distance, I saw you from the stage, something ’bout your eyes, something about your beautiful face, just you and me and the band, then it says something about can’t let the music stop, (not verbatim) because it would end and I’d never get the chance, touch my hand, reach as far as you can, and on and on. Great lyrics. Reminds me of the night the AI tour was in town. I work at the arena where they played and he could be singing to every sweet young thing around the stage reaching out just to touch his hand, and vice versa. Written from his heart! I’d be shocked if he didn’t pen that one - and if he did, mercy, he did good!

  169. As much as I love David’s ballads, I love both of these refreshinly new songs. It makes perfect sense for David Archuleta to put out more current music. He has to get his foot in the door of the entertainment world, and he’s certainly not going to try to do so by doing something against his morals and high values. If falling to contempory music is how he gets there, then I admire David for his wisdom. He has plenty of time and has the Archmazing capability to give us a wide, eclectic range of genres in music in the months and years ahead. I intend to “STAND BY” HIM. If there aren’t ballads and songs with the deep meaning in them that I & David himself so loves in his album, I’ll patiently wait & continue to play his American Idol and Tour videos over and over again on YouTube. It’ll keep me content and run up the views!!! By the way, there are other fansites that run hundreds of positive opinions from fans regarding David’s 2 new songs. Either we have an older fan base here or some of the comments are bogus. I think true Archies love David for more than the emotional rush they get from him: true Archies love David for David:D

  172. I have Touch My Hands in my ipod now and also My Hands. But TMH is so real. It is so David. It’s like he wrote it because it’s what he experienced on the Idol Tour. It’s possible he had an eye on a girl on the show? Hmmm…. I loved both songs. Everyone, please let’s be supportive of David. It doesn’t help when some of you are being negative and being picky about every little thing. Some of you are worse than Simon Cowell. You claim to love David with all your heart but you want to impose you own idea of what he should or shouldn’t sing. Anyway, peace out and goodnight!

  173. Wow. I am so impressed. The songs are catchy and I think just the upbeat kind that David needs to connect to his younger audience. (And I’m a silver fan)! I think both songs show heart and maturity in their own way and will be even better in their entirety. Mixed with a variety of other songs (which he has promised), I think we’re in for quite a special package.

  174. The more I listen to both songs, I prefer the catchy tune of Touch My Hands. It’s upbeat and danceable. I love the falsetto part. Both are radio friendly, appropriate for his age. but as we all know, David can sing the phone book, and will listen and buy it. I like them both but TMH grows on me every time I listen to it.

  175. ThanSkinDangit,

Again, I’m sorry for the rant. Just needed to get that out of my system. The producers of American Idol, among others, said that DC would sell millions of records for them and that DA didn’t have commercial potential. I hope the media will finally give DA some credit for his success after Idol.

But I feel better now. Thanks for listening.

  176. I don’t think TMH is radio friendly, because the lyrics are not relatable and it’s more one of those things that should just stay to the album, and to the people who appreciate his music (if you know what I mean-one of the more sacred towards his fans song) . I love My Hands, but it’s too similiar to Crush.

Anyway, I’ll just wait till the 11th, but the entire albm will definately leak before then.

Anywho, I doubt any of these 2 will be the next singles, they seem to weak to me. He needs to bring it, because there is serious competition.

No need to apologize, to the person way above. Opinoins are opinions.

  177. I like My Hands better. I think it sounds like a hit. I have listened to it a ton already.

Rumor is both will be on the album, but one may also be a single (and perhaps a video). The question is which one should be a single too.

I think My Hands has a better chance to play on Hot AC and maybe even some light urban stations, both songs good for Top 40 and AC. Just my opinion.

  178. i really like both of the songs–TMH has a very alternative sound– a little cold play sounding– MH has a r&b sound –very radio friendly. david said his album was going to be an electic blend of music –mainly pop–so thats what it will be –im sure there will be a ballad or two but i would expect mainly a young pop sound like this.

  180. I love My Hands a lot , in second thought I also like touch my hand.. can’t wait for the album … love you Archie!!!!

  181. #157 Linda — I agree, I’m an older fan too and loved what I’ve heard of the two songs. Us older fans can appreciate ‘pop’ music too, especially when it comes from David. David always brings a very special unique quality to everthing he sings and I will always love him for that.
DAVID - IF YOU WROTE OR CO-WROTE EITHER OF THESE TWO SONGS YOU DID A FABULOUS JOB!!
#148 Mike — Yes, I agree-David is the best artist out there and he has had a very broad fanbase from the beginning. I’m one of many older fans who has been part of that broad spectrum of his fanbase from day one. He is really a gem, so proud of David!

  182. So, I am pretty sure that David wrote Touch My Hands. I don’t know if anyone remembers, but months ago, they released this info about his album:
    Title: MY HANDS
Writers: BEY ZUKHAN, FAUNTLEROY JAMES EDWARD II, KIRIAKOU EMANUEL S

    Title: RUINED ME
Writers: CATES JESS CLAYTON, CHASEZ JOSHUA SCOTT, KIRIAKOU EMANUEL S, ROBBINS LINDY

This was before he started his songwriting sessions. I bet “Touch My Hands” was from one of his recent songwriting sessions after the idol tour. Listen to the lyrics! “Saw you from the stage…In a sea of people…” Hmm…Now, they can’t have two songs about hands on his album, so I am 99% sure they are doing the rating thing to see which one people like better. They will then choose one based on our opinion. Both are good, but as I said before “Touch My Hands” touched my heart.

  183. Hmmmmmm. Well, I think the lyrics for the first one are sort of corny and manipulative, but I would imagine that many girls will think of how they felt he was singing to them at the concerts and will love this song because of that. The second is better, I suppose, but still not what I was hoping for. Neither really sound enough like David to convince me 100% that it’s him singing though. I’ll just say this. I am a huge David Archuleta fan, so, whether these samples are real or not, I’ve already ordered my copy of his CD and will be thrilled to have it!

  184. What I think is very different between MH and Crush is MH gets right into it. TMH starts off bare like Crush but actually takes longer to get to the meat of the song.

I love David dearly but I don’t care for the start of TMH. I think the leadin could be more interesting.

Don’t shoot me. I will support either. But I just don’t know if TMH will attract new buyers as well as MH. Of course we will buy everything. We need to think about which song is best for attracting new fans on the types of stations it will play on.

    Again - my opinion.

  185. 163 Jullie 2 I agree with 100% David is reaching out to a larger fan base, hopefully increasing his appeal to a larger audiance thats all.I’m sure He’ll continue to sing ballads.BTW I’m 42yrs old father of two young ladys and husband to one great beautiful lady. I LOVE ARCHIE’S MUSIC.

  186. #178~Violet4ever. I agreed with you.

    Comment by LucyS | October 15, 2008

  187. Violet is right. We’re not trying to criticize or overanalyze. We just want others to love David’s music as much as us, so of course we want the ‘best’ song for him.

    Sh,

no worries or need to apologize. I just wanted to know who said David would fail so I could break out my boxing gloves when I see them!

    Comment by ThatSkinDangIt | October 15, 2008

  188. I had to listen to both songs a few times to get a feel for them. TMH doesn’t like David but I can get to like the song. I can relate to David’s voice moreso to My Hands. It’s a different style for David but I guess he’s wants to attract a younger audience.

  189. My Hands, says my heart, is better.

Ah and there you go…lots of sharings here. But I’m pretty sure that at the end of the day WE’ll all support David, right? Right?

We love him, don’t we? So, let’s all set aside the negativities and WORK it for David.

    Sigh…sigh…sigh!!!

My heart was full a little earlier after I listened to his songs. But now…I don’t know, after reading all of these. Eh…DAVID!!!!!!!!!!!!!
