I love them both but I really like my hands a lot more than touch my hands. I really liked the slow songs he sang on idol 2. I hope he does some like that 2, not just all these really poppy ones. Wow, some real music critics here. LOL. Guarantee for you today: David’s first album will not be songs like Imagine or Smokey Mountain Memories….we may get 1 or possibily two like that on his CD but not much more. Archie may act like he’s 30 but he really is 17. Let’s not “clay aikenize” him so that only people over 40 like his music.
So I know Archie has a lot of older fans, and it kind of scares me to think thye like this kind of music, hahahah. I mean yeah, they can listen to whatever, but I SEE A LOT OG GROWN OLD FOLKS defending him on Youtube, and comparing him to the likes of people and legends back then!!

Okay, I’ve listened to them both again, and I have to say that I don’t like the way David says “You” (like “yeeeww”) in “Touch My Hands.” It sounds too much like the Jonas Brothers, and David is way too good to stoop like that.
On a second note, “Touch My Hands” is the song I like better.
My Hands will be a hit! This clip of Touch My Hands sounds a little too loose in the beginning to meet the high expectations of ‘David’ vocals we’ve come to expect (sounds like influence of other artists or fatigue might have had an effect?), but looking forward to hearing final and whether he had a part in writing it on tour.

Well the truth is that David is “too good”. And yes you are on an Archie fansite, so you SHOULD expect all of us to be supportive of him. If you are not a fan, then why on earth are you on this site dissing David?

But they may need to change one of the titles (too similar) if both songs make it on the album. It would be much too confusing, (IMO). Maybe change the title of “My Hands” to “Hold On”, he sings a lot in that song.

This coming from someone who is such a David fan that my mom and I spent over $3,000 on plane tickets to see him at 5 AI concerts:
I REALLY want to like these songs, the problem is, I don’t. I will buy his first album just to support him, but I definitely will be awaiting his second album ( although, unfortunately, if all the songs are like these, the chances of that happening are lessening :-( ) Hopefully, it will be more David.
I understand that he is only seventeen, however, he has older fans and younger fans (me) that fell in love with David for his slow, ballady songs that made us cry.
Neither of these songs sound like David at all. In fact, when I started listening to “Touch My Hands” (which the title alone is too similar to Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body”; a disgusting, horny, innapropriate song {is that really what David wants to be thought of as?}), I thought that it was someone else singing it so that we can understand the words and I actually took me quite a while to figure out that it probably wouldn’t have been worded by Fanblast the way it was if it wasn’t David singing it (otherwise, I honestly wouldn’t have known it was him).
When I first heard “My Hands”, (as #33 said, what’s up with the “hands” concept?”, I immediately thought that it was Chris Brown’s “With You”, especially during seconds 0:03 to 0:06. I believe it is the same note and key, even with the “ooooohs” (also stated by #28), and just like #26 said, I cannot understand half the words of this song.
I am not satisfied and I am sure most others will not be either. I really hope these songs will not be on the album.
I am sad to say that I am not happy with the album so far. I think “Crush” is a great song, but those are my only positives. I don’t use this word a lot, but I HATE the album cover and now a possible 1/3 of the album so far have songs I probably would not listen to more than 3 times.
I also sadly agree with #34 on the Jordin Sparks type of success; she hasn’t gone very far and David won’t either with these songs. :-(

I thought the MY Hands did sound like the chris brown song, this is why I prefer Touch My Hands. But it’s good for him to go outside the box a little to appeal to more people which I think Touch my hands will do. It’s a different sound for him. And keep in mind these are NOT the final cuts.

i love both songs! as for certain remarks, we have to remember david is 17 and does like to sing certain types of songs. and i do not think he will forget that he is well known for ballads. i am sure there will be at least one of those on there. but he does need radio friendly music to reach a bigger audience. and either way in his future i am certain we will hear some super ballads. :)

We knew this album was going to be POP. I think David wrote Touch My Hands. It is what he has been living and relating to all summer on the Idol tour….I want to see more power ballads though….. Miss Vicki
I don’t understand why some of you don’t like these. I think it sounds like david. It’s his voice, he’s just trying new things and experimenting with his voice. That is what keeps people out there staying on top by trying new things with their music. Remember he is just starting out and he is learning what groove he wants to get into. He’s young and is going to experiment with his music. And I’m glad he is. Touch my hands is very catchy and new sounding. It doesn’t sound like everything else out there. However, I don’t think they should put both of these on the album b/c of the similarity of the songs (both about hands). That would be cheesy and disappointing.

This is shaping up to be a great album. Just the right mix I want, something simple with guitar and something hip with beats and rhythm. And please do not compare David with anyone else, he is unique, if there is any resemblance, it’s influence. Comparison makes it seem like he’s copying and that’s not true.
I’m glad that these previews are not immediately outstanding because if they are, it will only mean disappointment when the full length is released. I heard a lot of previews before, and the better they are, the faster they flop when they’re released.
And with beats like that, it’s certainly not Pop, at least it’s not the pure pop we know during Backstreet Boys period.

I like how David is proving his harshest critics wrong, he can be marketable and current. These pop songs are just what he needs to jumpstart his career. Bravo David.
First: an album has, at least, 12 songs. Jive let us hear just samples of 2 songs - and one can become a new single. I don’t understand people criticizing an album that they don’t know just because of 2 simple and not complete samples. It’s too much negativism.
Second: too much expectations about David is wrong. He is a 17 years old boy with a wonderful voice and amazing musical sensibility, but he doesn’t have to sing only ballads. American Idol is over, thanks God, and now he must connect with more young people, sing contemporary and commercial songs to turn out the image of “boring” and became a known artist. I know that he has a good musical taste and with time he will record other albums, let’s say, more sophisticated to pleased his oldest fans too.
Who really like him must wait to hear all the new album and just support him in his way to become the musician that he has the potential to be.
Like “My Hands” slightly more than “Touch My Hands”. MH is more mature with clever phrasing and lyrics. TMH is simpler and less polished, and a little “flat” in the beginning. I think it is worth continuing to work on-great potential. Thanks for the preview!

And I too fell in love with his power ballads–hoping the record company realizes that his ballads were what catapulted him to the top. Most of the other songs (With You, You’re the Voice, etc.) were deeply criticized by the judges.
Maybe he’ll do a Christmas album.

I think Jive did this because they want to prove that David can be young and current. That’s why they release these samples with up tempo, pop-ish sound.
The rest of the album may be all ballads, we still have at least 10 more songs unheard on the album, that is if both of these songs make it to the album which I doubt even though I love both of them.

After listening to both of them a few times I definitely like touch my hands more. The second was good but I really liked the first. Come on guys, there will be ballads, we all know David. We’re just seeing the pop guy but the ballads will be there, guaranteed. I think this is a great start for him.

Well FB, what a surprise when I turned my computer on and went straigt to FB for anything that’s new about David. I love both songs! I am so shaking right now cuz I’m loving these songs. For older fans who want David’s ballads, there will be some of that in the album for sure. I am sure the album will have something for everyone. I hope you older fans will not withdraw your support of David just because he sings more pop songs than ballads. I hope we will support him for his first album whether you are young or old. Also, if you feel that you have to play critic to these songs, I hope you do it in an objective, professional manner. I love these songs. Peace.

These are good radio songs especially ‘My Hands.’ I like the lyrics, they are funky and not too innocent.
‘Touch My Hand’ is cool too and with the rumor David wrote the song makes it even more special.
David needs radio friendly songs to establish himself in the industry. He could sing ballads and it doesn’t matter how beautiful it sounds, if the radio stations don’t play it, he has no future in the music business.

OMG, how amazing our David is! I’m reading comments I just can’t understand here. Not every song he sings is going to come across like an Imagine or Heaven. This is what makes him so different from the rest of the singing world! Let’s embrace him with every part of our being and let the critics not his fans analyze him. Just hearing snips of his very own songs is what makes me so excited! We are all here for the incredible ride! Let’s enjoy it! We are so proud of you David!
Touch My Hands is absolutely brilliant. It is HIS life. It is something he experiences. Can you imagine the uncontrollable concert attenders for that one.
My hands is well done, but it sounds lyrically older. Can’t wait to see who wrote what!

Well I listen to both songs 3 times before I could make a comment, I like Touch My Hands better than My Hands, it was kind of hard trying to understand the lyrics on My Hands. I’m like some other fans that I hope the album has some ballads that is why a lot of us felt in love with him. I will buy his album because I want to support him, but I hope he doesn’t go in the direction of to much Disney. Don’t get me wrong I love Disney movies but not Disney singers.
I liked both song, but I love “MY HAND” ( I love his voice on this, more mature) better than “TOUCH MY HAND” (his voice on this like Disneys on the beginning like Zack Efron voice which is I don’t like his voice). Sorry just my opinion. But I love what ever David chose. I love any song that David sings :)

My Hands is more radio friendly than TMH.
Touch my hands sounds like what David fans are use to hearing from him . I guess it doesn’t seem that crazy to me he wrote that song (TMH) cause it has a very laid back type of feel that David likes to listen to when it comes to music .
My favorite is Touch My Hands from the two songs because it sounds more what I am use to hearing from him but both songs are great .
Shucks, voted on rate the music for “Touch my Hands” I like the upbeat feel of it. Now I come over here read everyone’s comments and relisten to the songs and though I feel its too jumbled at the beginning, now I prefer “My Hands” can I re-vote? lol. I agree with #80 moltenhot- Touch my hands is a song that the average listener won’t relate to. #91 Tara - I too believe David is experimenting and I feel both songs are the type of music David is hoping to perform.

No surprise, David’s vocals are stellar in both songs. Though I prefer the tune, beat, and overall feel of Touch My Hands, I just don’t like the lyrics. They don’t go with the tune and they just don’t seem like David to me. It almost sounds stuck up when he’s talking about being on stage. I don’t know how to explain it. It sounds more mainstream love than the heartfelt David we know and love. But My Hands… absolutely beautiful. Lyrics, beat, tune, vocals (DUH!). Everything is covered in that song. Of course I love both songs, but one much more than the other.
What makes David so unique is that he appeals equally to young and “old “alike, and for the same reasons. Usually, the older folks are late in coming on board (they hated Elvis and were lukewarm to the Beatles). David already has all age groups loving him. I cannot remember an artist with such broadbased appeal at the beginning of a career. As a result, there will be people who think his songs are too much of one thing or not enough of another. Just keep buying his CDs and everyone will get what they want eventually.
As for these songs, I love “Touch My Hands’ and am warming up to “My Hands”. I do find the similarity in titles a little offputting. Who knows if they’ll both be on the CD? Anyway, love ya David. You are THE best artist out there.
“Radio friendly?” Some of Billboard’s and radio’s biggest hits are ballads. Ask yourself this…which of David’s Idol performances got the most downloads? You think a meaningful ballad could not bring the boy a hit? I think it could be bigger than ever.
And…boyagam, you should allow folks to express that they may not like/love something David does if that’s what they feel. Criticizing/shunning those who share honest opinions will put this site in the same league as the Soul Patrol. I don’t think we wanna go there? There’s room for every opinion and a LOT of love for David in the room…if not for every song.

I love both songs because its David. I like everything he does! But if I had to choose between the two, I would choose My Hands. I think this song, is more David. His voice is strong and it showcases his voice more. Its got a good message as the other song but the first sound doesn’t sound like David as much. Its kinda sluggish I think. Perhaps its because I’m not used to hearing him sing that type of song. I like the lyrics of the first song a whole lot. That does sound like David. Its so hard to choose because they both offer so much!
This is my first time post here. After hearing these two clips, I really feel like to say something. The vibe of “My hands” sounds too much like “Crush” to me. If one of these songs will be future single, I actually prefer “Touch my hands.” Just think there should be some variation for the single. Besides, I would look forward to hearing David sing this song live on stage! It should be awesome! As for “My hand”, it might be more radio-friendly like many people said, but the tempo is just too similar to “Crush” to me. So I vote for “Touch my hands.” One more thing, I couldn’t stop thinking after seeing the title of these two song’s…could they think of a better one instead of such similar titles? don’t know if it’s a good idea to have two songs with similar title in an album, even though it’s completely two different songs…two many hands…(but I definiely like David’s hands!!)
Of the two songs, I definitely like “My Hands” better because you can hear David’s voice better. I don’t like too many filters drowining out his voice; his voice is so pure, it doesn’t need anything extra added.
While I adore “Crush” I can’t say I’m in love with either of these two songs so I’m a little disappointed. While I love his power ballads I don’t necessarily need them. I’d be happy hearing anything he had to sing; I just need his voice in it’s purest form and neither of these songs showcase his voice enough, IMO.
Crush is pop. My Hands is R&B/Hip-hop. Touch my Hands has a lite/soft Rock feel to it. Will there be a sappy ballad in the CD, you betcha. This CD is going to be eclectic because his musical influences are. And as he has said so many times, he’s still “finding himself” as a person and as an artist. Just check out his Amazon song list.

Geez guys - you call yourselves fans? I hope David IS NOT reading these comments. I would be crushed if I was him, no pun intended. Did you not even read the VOTE question “which song will go to #1 faster?” I listened to both songs about 4 times each and TOUCH MY HANDS grew on me everytime I listened to it. I thought MY HANDS was too similar to CRUSH. Play the songs and then stand up and dance to them - TOUCH MY HANDS, the beat, is very dance-able. David, if you are reading these comments, YOU DID GOOD and regardless of who wrote them, they are catchy tunes, they both have good beats - I’d give TMH a 99 and MH a 92…shades of American Bandstand because I am a platinum fan and I have no idea where you guys get the idea that it’s the old fans that don’t like the songs. I’m 67 and I LOVE THEM - and they sound like David Archuleta in top pop form. YOU GO DAVID!

I listened to Touch My Hands again. But I did something different than the first couple of times. I didn’t mean to do it, but, I just started tapping my foot. Then I just broke out into my “sweet dance moves.” And I found out: Touch My Hands is DANCEABLE. Every artist needs AT LEAST one upbeat song that you can dance to. SO now I have a new respect for Touch My Hands: my new spaz out song, haha :P

This is just my opinion, but I’m getting really tired of the negativity, which I guess will never stop. All we heard during this season was that David Archuleta would be a commercial failure and David Cook would sell millions of records. Maybe he will, but so far he hasn’t.
If you don’t like David Archuleta’s music, then don’t listen to it. Don’t buy his album. It’s totally okay, and it’s as simple as that.
“Crush” is #16 on iTunes after nine weeks. “Light On” is #63 after two weeks. Let’s discuss “marketability” again when Cook actually has a hit single.

I love both songs. I cannot decide yet. I need more time. Both songs are already grown on me too much. haha..For the live concert, I’ll pick “Touch my hands”, For the radio, I’ll pick “My hands”. Both are great!! David..you gave us too much great songs…just too much…just too much…
I am not a “young” fan, but I know how much he connects to each song, and he does that very well with these two songs. I am pretty sure he wrote Touch My hands and I am very proud of him.. This is just a little preview of what is to come and it’s going to be wonderful journey..
I just have to say this, I dont know who are the worst critics - the Cook fans, the haters or ARchies own fans? You people who are disappointed already for 2 surveyed songs that we didnt even hear half of it and its only 2 out of the 12 songs plus bonus track in his album. Didnt ARchie say his album will be a mix, theres something for everyone. Looks to me that fans here are so overanalyzing and easy to criticize are putting so much expectation on a young talent like DAvid. Chill out and wait for the album and as the others said if you dont like it, dont buy it. The songs are good, not great but its twice better than what is out there.
I heard that information on snarkies and idf that David might have written Touch My Hands . Sorry , for the misleading comment . The only thing I know about the songs is that Eman and a few other people help write My Hands it says that on the ASCAP website and Touch My Hands has no name attached as a writer and not even registered on ASCAP . Anyway , just wanted to clear somethings up about what I said on my previous comment .

OMGosh, I just listened again to TOUCH MY HANDS and I would stake my life on David’s having written it. It says basically, not verbatim, “I saw you from a distance, I saw you from the stage, something ’bout your eyes, something about your beautiful face, just you and me and the band, then it says something about can’t let the music stop, (not verbatim) because it would end and I’d never get the chance, touch my hand, reach as far as you can, and on and on. Great lyrics. Reminds me of the night the AI tour was in town. I work at the arena where they played and he could be singing to every sweet young thing around the stage reaching out just to touch his hand, and vice versa. Written from his heart! I’d be shocked if he didn’t pen that one - and if he did, mercy, he did good!

As much as I love David’s ballads, I love both of these refreshinly new songs. It makes perfect sense for David Archuleta to put out more current music. He has to get his foot in the door of the entertainment world, and he’s certainly not going to try to do so by doing something against his morals and high values. If falling to contempory music is how he gets there, then I admire David for his wisdom. He has plenty of time and has the Archmazing capability to give us a wide, eclectic range of genres in music in the months and years ahead. I intend to “STAND BY” HIM. If there aren’t ballads and songs with the deep meaning in them that I & David himself so loves in his album, I’ll patiently wait & continue to play his American Idol and Tour videos over and over again on YouTube. It’ll keep me content and run up the views!!! By the way, there are other fansites that run hundreds of positive opinions from fans regarding David’s 2 new songs. Either we have an older fan base here or some of the comments are bogus. I think true Archies love David for more than the emotional rush they get from him: true Archies love David for David:D
I listened… LOADS OF times!!!! Loved, loved, LOVED both songs. There is just something about each one that touches my soul. David, you’ve made a lot of people very happy. I would like to see one of the “hand” song titles changed. Don’t think we need two “hand” songs on the same album. I wonder if David likes these songs? anndddd.. WILL they both be on the album? I love Touch my hands! I am not a teen. I could just feel David’s emotions when he was singing this. It make me think of the times when you try to touch that special someone’s hand. These songs sound wonderful. I can’t wait for the rest of the album to come out!
I have Touch My Hands in my ipod now and also My Hands. But TMH is so real. It is so David. It’s like he wrote it because it’s what he experienced on the Idol Tour. It’s possible he had an eye on a girl on the show? Hmmm…. I loved both songs. Everyone, please let’s be supportive of David. It doesn’t help when some of you are being negative and being picky about every little thing. Some of you are worse than Simon Cowell. Wow. I am so impressed. The songs are catchy and I think just the upbeat kind that David needs to connect to his younger audience. (And I’m a silver fan)! I think both songs show heart and maturity in their own way and will be even better in their entirety. Mixed with a variety of other songs (which he has promised), I think we’re in for quite a special package.
The more I listen to both songs, I prefer the catchy tune of Touch My Hands. It’s upbeat and danceable. I love the falsetto part. Both are radio friendly, appropriate for his age. but as we all know, David can sing the phone book, and will listen and buy it. I like them both but TMH grows on me every time I listen to it.

I don’t think TMH is radio friendly, because the lyrics are not relatable and it’s more one of those things that should just stay to the album, and to the people who appreciate his music (if you know what I mean-one of the more sacred towards his fans song) . I love My Hands, but it’s too similiar to Crush.
Anyway, I’ll just wait till the 11th, but the entire albm will definately leak before then.
Anywho, I doubt any of these 2 will be the next singles, they seem to weak to me. He needs to bring it, because there is serious competition.

Rumor is both will be on the album, but one may also be a single (and perhaps a video). The question is which one should be a single too.
I think My Hands has a better chance to play on Hot AC and maybe even some light urban stations, both songs good for Top 40 and AC. Just my opinion.
i really like both of the songs–TMH has a very alternative sound– a little cold play sounding– MH has a r&b sound –very radio friendly. david said his album was going to be an electic blend of music –mainly pop–so thats what it will be –im sure there will be a ballad or two but i would expect mainly a young pop sound like this.

This was before he started his songwriting sessions. I bet “Touch My Hands” was from one of his recent songwriting sessions after the idol tour. Listen to the lyrics! “Saw you from the stage…In a sea of people…” Hmm…Now, they can’t have two songs about hands on his album, so I am 99% sure they are doing the rating thing to see which one people like better. They will then choose one based on our opinion. Both are good, but as I said before “Touch My Hands” touched my heart.
Hmmmmmm. Well, I think the lyrics for the first one are sort of corny and manipulative, but I would imagine that many girls will think of how they felt he was singing to them at the concerts and will love this song because of that. The second is better, I suppose, but still not what I was hoping for. Neither really sound enough like David to convince me 100% that it’s him singing though. I’ll just say this. I am a huge David Archuleta fan, so, whether these samples are real or not, I’ve already ordered my copy of his CD and will be thrilled to have it!
What I think is very different between MH and Crush is MH gets right into it. TMH starts off bare like Crush but actually takes longer to get to the meat of the song.
I love David dearly but I don’t care for the start of TMH. I think the leadin could be more interesting.
Don’t shoot me. I will support either. But I just don’t know if TMH will attract new buyers as well as MH. Of course we will buy everything. We need to think about which song is best for attracting new fans on the types of stations it will play on.

I had to listen to both songs a few times to get a feel for them. TMH doesn’t like David but I can get to like the song. I can relate to David’s voice moreso to My Hands. It’s a different style for David but I guess he’s wants to attract a younger audience.

Ah and there you go…lots of sharings here. But I’m pretty sure that at the end of the day WE’ll all support David, right? Right?
