Message to David Archuleta fans from Serena!
Hey guys okay, remember the movie “Pay it Forward,” it’s kind of old, it had Hallie Jo Osmond in it, anyway it was on the other day and it really got me thinking. We all (including me) talk about what all David has done for us, inspired us, gave us hope, got us writing music, made us feel again, everything, and although we say it over and over how much it means to us I started thinking about how I could ever repay him. Well, I have been lucky enough to have been a part of some amazing projects and gifts involving David, whether it was raising money for the family through a marathon, donating to fanblast, helping out with group gifts, signing group thank yous and scrapebooks, and lets not forget the “David is My Hero,” book, that is really what did it for me, it took me a week to write my story but once I did it felt so amazing. But I still can’t help but feel that there is something more that we could do. I know how blessed I am now and yes a lot of it has to do with David and the message of hope and inspiration that so many of us feel through him and his music, I want to share that feeling with others, so I came up with the Archie “pay it forward” Project. Basically it is simple, David has helped all of us in one way or another by touching all of our lives in a positive way so in return we should do the same.
Today I went to a local shelter here and volunteered, I helped serve lunch and just sat and talked with some of the people there. It was a little overwhelming, it makes me sad to think that there are so many people out there that don’t have anything, not even a hot meal. It reminded me so much of when David sang “Another Day In Paradise,” I spoke with the lady in charge and she told me that they have been short on volunteers this year and it has been difficult for them, so I signed up to go 3 times a week.

Now you don’t necessarily have to go out and volunteer, that is only one option. There is plenty you can do.
- Volunteer at a local shelter or your church may have a group you can help with.
- Donate to the Goodwill or Red Cross or another organization in your area(they always need clothes or can goods)
- Visit a retirement center in your area, some of the people there never have visitors, they just want someone to talk to sometimes.
- Visits patients in your local hospital.
There are tons of things you can do, it may be as simple as helping out a friend in need, or just making someone smile.
So I challenge everyone to “pay it forward” in some way and post it here. Now for us, I still feel really blessed so I think we can also help out each other. I consider the people I have met here at fanblast as friends, some even as family…my e-family, lol. So I want to help put a smile on some of their faces, don’t you. I have seen several posts here from people that either want a fanblast tour t-shirt or want to go to a concert but can’t afford it. So I am willing to purchase 5 fanblast tour t-shirts and give them to 5 fellow Archies/Arch Angels/fanblast members. Just send me a message to this FanBlast Forum thread if you want one (4 shirts now, I just gave one to a lucky fan…Yay). Also, new, as soon as the water bottles go on sale on the site I will buy 10 and forward to lucky fans! Now just message me if you want one, it is a first come first serve, so not everyone who messages me will get one, but hey you might, so go for it! Plus maybe some other fan will join in on the “pay it forward.”
Update: ok well I have actually only given out one t-shirt so far, but it was so worth it. She is a fanblaster but I won’t say her name, anyway April gave her the shirt in Utah but that’s not the best part, she got meet and greet passes and got David to sign it…..YAY I am sooo happy for her!
New idea from fanblaster Tara: gift your extra tickets. So many of us have bought tickets then went back and bought more tickets so if you have extra tickets consider gifting them to a fellow fan who might not be able to attend a concert otherwise. This is a great idea, thanks Tara!
David is an amazing human being, we have all seen his kindness, his huge heart, that warming smile and that beautiful voice that touches your soul. He has given so much to us and I think we can now give back to the world as a small thank you to him.
Remember my friends, David sang the words; “Imagine all the people, sharing for the world. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. Take my hand and join us, and the world will live as one.”
So please join me and be a part of the Archie “Pay it Forward” Project! –Serena
